Mark and Jacob had just wrapped up soccer practice and it was Jacob’s mom’s turn to carpool the boys. The two had been best friends for years, so they both knew that Jacob’s mom had a bad habit of running late. The boys waited on the bench wondering how late she’d be this time. Maybe 15 minutes, maybe an hour.
“I wish I knew what your mom did all day that makes her late to everything,” Mark said casually. Wishes can be so dangerous in this world. You never know who, or what, is listening, and how they’ll be granted. Mark only noticed something was wrong when his friend pointed out his growing hair. The young boy made a panicked sprint to the locker rooms, but it was too late. Mark was about to be closer to his friend than he ever thought possible.
